Ordering in this week.
One of our favorite pizzerias at the moment is Motorino. They have locations around the world but we order from the Upper West Side and they have three excellent vegan pizzas.
We often start with the fennel salad which is wonderful, but be sure to order it without the cheese to keep it vegan. We love this salad. Sliced fennel, oil cure olives, currants, orange slices and a sprig of dill. Fan-tastic!
They have a Marinara Pizza which is just red sauce and a little garlic. We love it, but it is much better in the restaurant compared to delivery. Delivery gets a little soggy, so save that for in person dining.
In person or delivery you cannot miss with the VEGAN CREMINI MUSHROOM and the LA VEGANA pizzas. The Cremini is a white pizza and the Vegana is red. Both are truly delightful and satisfying. The Cremini is rich and complex, perfectly blending the umami of the mushrooms, olives and the vegan fennel sausage with the creamy “cheese” and olive oil. La Vegana is peppery and spicy with broccoli rabe, red pepper, red onions, olives and vegan sausage. De-licious!
The crust is one of the most important elements of any pizza and at Motorino it is thin but still doughy. A thin crust is great but we prefer a little chew (over crunch) and therefore love it here.
As previously mentioned, tonight we ordered in. But two things you should know. First the Upper West Side location is small and intimate, perfect for couples and a bottle of wine. Second, You should also know they have an offer on delivery and take out where if you order two pizzas you get the third free. Free?! It's the best deal in town on some of the best pizza in town. A vegan date night miracle!
