The energy at Kricket is awesome. There are a few tables but most of the seating is at a large bar which surrounds the kitchen. The music is bumping and the kitchen is busy. Which is not distracting at all. In fact, the activity almost makes a little private pocket for you to be in. Even though most of the stools were full, we didn't even notice anyone else around us. The kitchen is actually interesting to watch. In between our conversation it was fascinating to see the cooks prepare all the dishes and bake bread.
The menu is all small plates made for sharing. There are several vegan options. Some items have vegan and vegetarian versions, so be sure to tell your server your preference.
We have never tasted anything quite like the food at Kricket - which was really exciting. It is Indian inspired, but super unique to our palate. To start we had the Pani Puri and Tapioca Papads. Both excellent. Then we had the Bhel Puri, Samphire Pakoras, Aubergine 65, and the Spring Onion Missi Roti. Each was a thrill and delicious. For drinks, we had Chai and a fresh lime soda (made half salty and half sweet) - wonderful.
Kricket was a fun adventure. The vibe is super cool, the staff passionate, and the food exciting. It was truly an experience and gave us so much to talk about! Not that we are ever at a loss for words, but this was different. Almost like a first date. We really talked about the food - the textures, flavors and variety. We talked about how things were prepared. And we even asked the chef a few questions. Such a joy.
Kricket is an excellent vegan date night where we got to try some new things and got to know each other a little better. Perfection.
