Il Lughino - Como, Italy.
Lake Como is for lovers.
Lake Como is famous for its lavish villas and resorts occupied by international ultra wealthy Individual s and celebrities.
This is the Lake Como you may have seen it in films, tv shows, instagram, and gossip magazines. I’m sure that version exists behind manicured shrubs, but we did not visit that Lake Como. We had a lovely time in a small town. It was romantic and relaxing.
Lake Como is huge, with many villages all around it. Where you decide to stay will color your experience. We chose to stay in the town of Como for several reasons. Como is the largest town around the lake. from there it is easy to travel to or from Milan and Switzerland. This was perfect for our trip because it was between our visits to Milan and Zurich. Also, in Como there are two vegan restaurants, which for Italy And the size of the town was very impressive!
We stayed for two days. Our vibe was very chill. For activities went on a boat ride around the lake in one of the famous wooden motorboats and spent the rest of the time shopping, walking around and just relaxing in cafes or bars. For us it was perfect, like spending a lazy weekend at home. There was an ease to it all that was lovely.
And the food was fantastic. Both nights we ate dinner at Il Lughino. Fully vegan with an emphasis on local, organic ingredients their lasagnas are famous. Over the two dinners we had the zucchini lasagna, eggplant lasagna, vegetable pie, gnocchi, and spaghetti. Each were delicious with light flavor and clean feel.
The lasagna were delightful. The vegetable pie consisted of layers of zucchini, tofu, and tomato served with carrots - very good. The pastas were incredibly satisfying, the gnocchi being our favorite of the two.
The house wine and desserts were also stellar. Going there both nights we were in town really added to the hometown vibe of our trip. We felt like locals living our best Italian life!
