Afternoon Tea at The Balmoral - Edinburgh, Scotland

Every August Edinburgh Scotland becomes the biggest theater scene in the world. The famed Fringe Festival literally takes over the city. Artists and audiences come from around the world. Concerts, comedy, circus, drama, musicals and street buskers put on shows all day and night. There are performances around the clock even at 2am and 6am. One day we saw a solo show, a concert, a circus, a comedy act and a musical. Amazing, there is nothing like it. The energy is off the charts.

And there are some great vegan eats in Edinburgh.

One not to miss is the vegan afternoon tea at The Balmoral. The Balmoral is possibly the best hotel in Edinburgh and their afternoon tea is truly exquisite. Served in their Palm Court Room, the scene is set for a luxurious afternoon. If you've never had afternoon tea the experience is great for couples and here is what you can expect:

First you order a pot of tea -  we think sharing makes for a better date, but you could each get your own. The tea selection is incredible and can be daunting, so ask for suggestions if you want to and the experts will happily offer guidance. An amuse bouche is served. Then three tiers of food are served. At The Balmoral vegan tea, the top tier was savory bites, the second were finger sandwiches and the bottom scones. Then there is a dessert course. You can order as many hot beverages and food as you like. They also have champagne and other alcoholic drinks available if you wish.

Everything was superb. We tried three teas and had seconds of the scones and sandwiches.

The dessert was transcendent. Unreal. The service and staff were top notch. The Balmoral took excellent care of us. All we had to do was sit and enjoy the experience and each other's company.
